Vestavia Forest Place WHole House Project
A family of four wanted to bring a newly purchased 1960’s home up to date with contemporary style. The three bedroom, three bath house in this project was renovated into a four bedroom, four bath house using the existing space inside the home. They also have numerous updates, including the kitchen and hall bathroom. The wall, trim and ceiling color throughout is Seapearl by Benjamin Moore. The flooring is 5" Red Oak with a DuraSeal stain in Antique Brown.
You can follow this project on our blog.
This kitchen was completely renovated with brand new cabinets by Mid Continent Cabinetry in a maple wood with espresso stain. The pulls are from Ikea. The backsplash is a handmade Mexican tile in a white/grey shade. Beautiful carrara marble countertops complete the sleek and simple look the family was going for. The range and dishwasher appliances are from DCS Fisher & Paykel.
Open Concept Kitchen & Family Room Renovation
The kitchen is open to the family room, and updates were made to bring these two rooms together in a big way!
Panelling and shelving was removed from the walls. An entry way to the hall was enlarged. The carpeting was replaced with 5" red oak hardwood stained in "Antique Brown" Duraseal stain. The walls, trim and ceiling are painted in "Seapearl" white paint which is a Benjamin Moore color. Recessed lighting was added.

Master Bedroom/Bathroom Retreat
Since this home was a 3 bdrm, 3 bath, and the existing master bedroom/bath space was too small, a larger master bedroom/bath space needed to be created. It was created out of the existing front living room/dining area space. This was also used to add a walk-in pantry next to the newly renovated kitchen space.
RMR was a runner-up in the AREA contest in the category of Space Renovation for this project.
Guest Bathroom Renovation
One thing that had to be done was to remove the pink tile and black wallpaper of this bathroom in the hall. This called for an entire gut job of the bathroom. It has a nice window view of the pool and nice size linen closet with light inside. It had plenty of room for a double sink but did not have plumbing for that. This plumbing had to be created in this renovation.
The owners chose a white subway tile for the tub/shower surround, and a white/grey tile for the flooring. There are two square shaped sinks with contemporary fixtures in brushed nickel finish. RMR created the faux board & batten and ledge look on the walls with moulding and paint. Benjamin Moore's White Dove was used for the walls, trim, and ceiling.
RMR earned runner-up in the AREA Contest in the category of "Bathrooms Under $20,000" with this bathroom renovation project.
